Tony Winners Victoria Clark, Harriet Harris & More Join Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana in Cinderella Workshop

Tony winners Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) and Harriet Harris (Thoroughly Modern Millie) will join Tony nominee Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana in the August workshop for the Broadway-bound musical Cinderella. Clark and Harris will play the Fairy Godmother (Marie) and the Stepmother (Madame), respectively. Directed by Mark Brokaw (The Lyons) and choreographed by Josh Rhodes, this new Cinderella features the classic score by Rodgers & Hammerstein and an updated book by Tony nominee Douglas Carter Beane. The musical will be workshopped on August 2 and 3 in anticipation of a 2013 Broadway opening.

Joining Osnes, Fontana, Clark and Harris will be Avenue Q’s Ann Harada and Sister Act’s Marla Mindelle as the stepsisters, Peter Bartlett (The Drowsy Chaperone) as Prime Minister, John Treacy Egan (Sister Act) as Town Crier and Peter and the Starcatcher’s Greg Hildreth as the rebel Jean-Michel.

Cinderella was originally made for TV in 1957 and starred Oscar winner Julie Andrews. The new production is slated to feature modern-twists by Beane as well as additional Rodgers and Hammerstein songs that were cut from other musicals, including “Now is the Time” (South Pacific) and “I’ve Lived and I’ve Loved” (The Sound of Music). David Chase will oversee musical adaptation, supervision and arrangements.
